In 2010, 70% of domestic electricity generation was fueled by fossil-based resources and only 4% came from renewable sources such as biomass, wind, solar, etc. The U.S. policy agenda includes lessened dependence on fossil fuels, greater emphasis on energy efficiency & productivity, modernization of the energy transmission & distribution infrastructure, and increased environmental awareness. With the current administration's goal of having 80% of U.S. electrical generation coming from clean energy sources by 2035,  there is much work to be done.
